From Te Anau we began a 2 day trek to Queenstown, with a stop in Mavora Lakes.

On day 1, we cycled 20 miles along the highway, which was…fine. Then, we turned off onto a gravel path. The cars became rare and the scenery was amazing. There were mountains off in the distance and grazing land on either side of us.

We arrived at Mavora lakes and scoured the whole site for the best spot. It was huge! We found a spot along the lake, and it was incredibly beautiful, if a bit windy. The wind was great at keeping the sandflies at bay! Well worth it.
