🚴 Biking Day

Stewart Island to Riverton

An early start. We boarded the 8am ferry to Bluff. This time, we asked to have our bikes brought into the ferry, which limited the damage.

The bike ride to Invercargill was great, but once we got off the bike lane, the traffic really picked up. We were on some pretty busy roads with heavy traffic. The large trucks were not pleased we were there. The further away we got from Invercargill, the better the traffic and the views.

40 miles later we were in Riverton, one of the oldest towns in New Zealand, due to the whaling industry. We stayed at a nice holiday park overlooking the ocean. While we were making dinner, another family were preparing a large catch of abalone.

💬 Quick Updates from this day

We made it to Riverton. A long day of cycling busy roads. Should get calmer tomorrow as head deeper. Next stop Clifden!

Up nice and early for the ferry to Bluff
